This is an exciting week for us. G-, our 3yo, started preschool this week, an in-house Waldorf-inspired program from a teacher who lives just around the corner. It’s only two days a week, but that’s alright, we can start slowly. He’s been doing really great and I can’t help remembering how when A- (who is now 6) went into preschool one of us needed to be physically on school property for almost that entire first year. G- is a lot more flexible and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s doing the ‘drop off and see ya later’ bit within a few days.
Just as exciting, A- is starting first grade this morning, which is also a big transition. She’s a popular kid in class too: at a class picnic last weekend two other girls were competing for her attention, and the ‘new best friends’ were flying fast and thick. She’s going to do great this year, I know, and I again am quite thankful that she’s in a great Waldorf school, so we can rest easy knowing that her whole person is being nurtured and grown, not just her academics.
