I’m confused and a bit disheartened: I’m finishing up my seventh week of the Nutrisystem Success program weighing exactly the same as I did the end of last week: 254.1. It’s no surprise then that I’m trying to figure out what’s happened this week as it’s the first week of this program where I haven’t lost any weight.
There are really two possible reasons why this has happened: too much food or too little exercise. I know it’s not the latter, though, because I was at the gym 6 of the last 7 days, working out for 30-45min each time. So… it’s food. A glance at my calendar reveals the most likely culprit: I’ve just been a busy social bee with two dinner parties and many other nights this week when I tried my best but was “off the menu”, eating out rather than consuming the neatly planned and portioned meals.
Given that, I suppose the good news is that I didn’t actually gain weight given my busy social calendar, right? 🙂
It’s really the bane of any food management program, dinner parties or parties of any sort, because it’s just about impossible to attend and not eat what’s served, whether it’s healthy or otherwise. Or maybe it’s just me and my association of consumption with politeness.
I go into week eight more focused being on-program and burning more calories each day at the gym. We’ll see how it goes.
And one more tip: Every morning the Nutrisystem plan specifies a protein shake in one of four flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and coffee. They’re not bad (though I haven’t ordered the strawberry since the first month) but I’ve been experimenting with ingredients and wanted to share my tweaked recipe…
Here’s the view looking into the blender:
What’s in here? The chocolate powder, about a 1/3 cup of 1% milk, 2/3 cup of water, a handful of ice cubes and about 1/3 cup of frozen cherries. The milk and cherries are definitely not part of the recipe but at the cost of adding a nominal amount of fat and calories, it makes the protein shake far, far more tasty. It’s fun to experiment with these shakes, actually. I’ve also tossed a banana in once or twice, another improvement.

Natural to plateau.
You’re doing great!!
Try unsweetened almond milk – it’s 30 cal for a cup. I use that in my shakes all the time now instead of milk Hang in there .. you’re doing great.
