Ah the harsh voice of the populace. While writing an article about the popular teen voting app Wishbone, I couldn’t help but be curious about the results of a user-submitted question mom or dad?
Here are the results:
Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised since the user population for Wishbone are primarily teen girls. Maybe I should be impressed that almost 30% of the respondents picked dad at all.
But I’m disappointed. We dads are fighting for equality, pushing to be seen as an equal parent and Wishbone reveals the cold, hard truth that teen girls, with a respondent size of 23,130 votes, prefer mom to dad over 2:1.
We’ve still got a way to go, guys.
Now, where’s the Wishbone app for teen boys to answer this same question…?
When my wife was still alive I had the “daddy’s girl” thing going for me. My daughter was always up in my business. Now that it is just the two of us I worry about having to compete with the memory of her mother some day. I have several years to go but it is still something that I think about. Being a single dad (for any reason) is not easy.
