Ordering Food with Nutrisystem

I’m in my seventh week of Nutrisystem and am down 15 pounds on the program from my starting weight, which is good news. I haven’t been fantastic at sticking on the program because I meet friends for meals, I’m not always home, and sometimes I have an extra snack late at night because I’m a bit hungry. Still, lots of salads, lots of carrot sticks and red peppers and a whole lotta water. It’s going well.

This week I thought I’d show the behind the scenes of ordering food through Nutrisystem when you’re on a plan or program because it’s simple but fun: Your menu is a spreadsheet that you fill out and email in. Easy enough!

Here’s how it looks when you open it up in your favorite spreadsheet program (I use “Numbers” on my Mac but it’ll also work just fine with Excel or even Google Docs spreadsheet):

I’m not sure what the entries in blue mean but believe it’s newer items, so it’s a way to draw attention to these choices. Above it’s Baked Blueberry Oatmeal, as you can see.

You enter your desired quantity and there’s a box that tallies up your order. Here are a few of my favorite breakfasts after a few months:

The egg muffin sandwiches work particularly well as they’re tasty, satisfying, warm up well in the microwave and are easy for me to eat on the way to dropping my daughter off at school.

Handy tip: I also count milk as a breakfast item so that I can indulge with my morning coffee. Easy enough.

Lunch is similar — and in this case the melts work well for my schedule and lack of kitchen facilities at lunchtime. Turns out I can warm one up and it’s still good to eat hours later (albeit not hot any more, of course. Still tastes fine).

Not sure about an item? You can pop over to the Nutrisystem site at any point and find out tons of information and even fellow eater reviews and commentary on any individual item, like the well-rated Chicken Mozzarella Melt:

Looks good to me! I completely my order, save the updated spreadsheet, and simply email it in to Nutrisystem. Ridiculously easy and while I don’t know if this is how every Nutrisystem customer works with the system, I somehow bet it’s pretty darn similar to this, whether the spreadsheet is online or via email.

Then the hard part: finding space in my freezer for all the food. But that’s another story…

Disclosure: I have received all of my products from Nutrisystem for review purposes and that my opinions are 100% my own. As is always the case.

  1. Congrats on the weight loss. To maintain look into the 5:2 diet. There is a lot of information on it all over the internet and you don’t have to buy any books or products.
It’s basically a simple way to do IF, so you also get some of the collateral health benefits of fasting. Tends to work better for men than for women, but it does work for both.
