Tightening My Belt with Nutrisystem

Another week on Nutrisystem, and while I seem to have plateaued with actual weight loss on the scale – stuck at 270.x which puts me down about 20 pounds – I am exercising more and slimming up. To the point where my snug pants are falling down if I don’t cinch my belt up, which is, well, a bit awkward. I admit, I’m getting some diet fatigue and find that I am straying off menu more than I should, which is contributing to the plateau. It’s all about changing how I think about eating, so I’m working on that part too – pulling together my own meals or joining a family dinner shouldn’t require me consuming significantly more calories, so it’s a learning experience.

Really, this is what it’s all about, right:

Meanwhile, turns out I have some really cool Trakline belts [which I’ve written about before: Trakline Belts] and they make it easy for you to adjust them to get exactly the tightness you want. At least, within a range of size, and as I’ve gone along on this Nutrisystem journey, I’m now at the point where my belt won’t tighten enough but that I also need to take scissors and chop the leather a bit shorter to make it all work:

This is, of course, a one way journey: You certainly can’t add length back once you’ve cut it off, but I’m not worried about that. It’s not at all my plan to regain any of this girth. Blech. Anyway, a few inches cut off and the buckle clips right back on:

Turns out that it’s actually more comfortable to wear pants that are tightened properly. Well, at least in my opinion, since I really don’t want to look like one of those urban 20-somethings who think having their pants half-way down their thighs so you can see their underwear is cool or fashionable. I don’t get that at all, but… hey, I’m not in that age bracket!

Anyway, I’m working on the plateau issue by trying to get in more exercise and getting back “on plan”, so we’ll see how it goes as we wrap up 12 weeks of Nutrisystem. Even if I don’t get past this 20 pounds lost mark, however, I still consider it a significant improvement in my health and appearance. Win, win.

Disclosure: I have received all of my products from Nutrisystem for review purposes and that my opinions are 100% my own. As is always the case.
